Copy of 2024: Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Milestones

From monthly board meetings to events, we have spaces that cater to the entire community!

The Charlton Abbott building has had an exciting and bustling year. This historic Victorian, which serves as the heart of Willoughby Workspaces, has seen our coworking community thrive and grow throughout 2024.

Our private office spaces have become a go-to resource for local professionals, providing a quiet and focused environment for studying, test-taking, interviews, one-on-one client meetings, and other private work sessions.

We’ve also been thrilled to see our conference room in high demand, with local business owners booking it for team-building activities and nonprofits using it for their monthly board meetings.

Willoughby Workspaces is rapidly becoming a key player in Lake County’s business community, and we’re excited to continue growing and supporting the professionals who make up our vibrant network.

Collaborating with Local Businesses for a Cause

This year, we had the privilege of working alongside some incredible local business owners in Lake County, supporting a variety of meaningful causes:

  • Festival of Summer Art Night: We partnered with local artists showcasing their work—ranging from artwork and photography to jewelry and clothing—during this vibrant event. All ticket sales were donated to The Fine Art Association Scholarship Program in Willoughby, supporting the next generation of artists.

  • Ohio Department of Health (WIC) 50th Birthday Celebration: We were honored to donate our time and space to help the Ohio Department of Health celebrate their milestone 50th birthday, marking an important moment in community health advocacy.

  • Bubbles & Babes Ladies Event: In collaboration with Kim Gilmore of All Contractors Supply in Mentor and Mary Nemechek of Empowered Nutrition & Energy, we hosted a special pop-up market for 15 local female business owners. All raffle ticket profits were donated to Women’s and Children’s Recovery in Willoughby, supporting vital recovery services for families in need.

These partnerships have made 2024 a year of giving back, and we are excited to continue working with our local business community to make a difference in the future!

This year, we were proud to host and collaborate with Club Pilates Willoughby South for their Women's Health event this past spring. The event featured five inspiring guest speakers and concluded with a refreshing Pilates class and snacks, bringing our community together in a meaningful way.

We’re also thrilled to have partnered with the Ohio Department of Health’s WIC program. Once a month, we welcomed parents and infant caregivers to connect, share experiences, and support each other on their baby-feeding journeys.

In the fall, we had the honor of hosting two local author book signings that brought our community closer. Kip Marlow celebrated the release of his second book, Rebels with a Cause, with a heartfelt introduction by his long-time friend and former business partner, Senator Jerry Cirino, who shared memories of their professional journey together.

Barbara Marlowe captivated the audience with her powerful book, A Brave Face: Two Cultures, Two Families, and the Iraqi Girl Who Bound Them Together, sharing the deeply moving story of adopting her Iraqi daughter, Teeba, and the profound impact it had on her family and culture.

It’s been an incredible year of connection, storytelling, and community-building at Willoughby Workspaces, and we’re excited for the many more partnerships and events to come!
